Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC) York University Online Application

Go to yorku.ca/myfile to enter your York student number (provided in your confirmation email when you applied to York) and your date of birth.

The Decision Letter and Acceptance/Visa Letter will not be mailed to you. It will be available for download in the "Admission Letters" tab of your MyFile account within five business days of your admission decision.

  • The Decision Letter contains the details and conditions of your admission to York University. Please remember to accept your offer in the "Application Status" tab on or before the response deadline stated in your Decision Letter.
  • The Acceptance/Visa Letter is addressed to "the Embassy of Canada or Immigration Officer". This is the letter you must use for your Study Permit application.
  • When applying for your Study Permit, you should only submit the Acceptance/Visa Letter. The Decision Letter is intended for your records and personal reference only. See section 4, “Getting Ready” for additional Study Permit details.
  • Note: No additional Decision Letter or Acceptance/Visa Letter will be issued, even after you clear the conditions of your admission. The documents in the Admission Letters tab should be considered the final versions.

If you applied to York via the OUAC application, please go to the next step. If you applied to York via the York application (not OUAC), you can accept your offer in your MyFile account.

  1. Click Application Status on the left menu bar. You will see a list of programs you have applied to at York.
  2. The "Next Steps" column will display which programs you have been admitted to.
  3. Click "Accept/Decline Offer" for the program you wish to accept.

Use the OUAC reference number to log in to your OUAC application at www.ouac.on.ca.

Once logged in, click Choices/Offers from the top menu bar. In the Admission Decision column of the program you wish to accept, click Offer or Alternate Offer. Received an alternate offer? Find out more (If you received an Alternate Offer, it may take up to five business days for it to appear in your OUAC account).

The following screen will display the details of the program to which you have been offered admission. Confirm that this is the correct program, select Accept from the Response options and click Save and Continue.

Once you have accepted an offer, you will need to return to the Choices/Offers screen which will now display your ‘response’ next to the offer of admission you have decided to accept. It will indicate ‘Unsubmitted Response’.

To submit your response, you must first click the ‘save ordered choice’ button at the top or bottom of the screen.

Once you are ready to submit your response to OUAC, you will click ‘Review and Submit’ from the top menu bar. Review that everything is correct and then click the 'I Verify and Agree' button to accept your offer.

Congratulations! You have now successfully submitted your response and will receive a confirmation number on the following screen. Besides the confirmation number, this screen will include a summary of changes made to your application.

If you do not immediately receive a confirmation number, the submission process was most likely not completed properly. Go back and review each step. If you need assistance with the OUAC application, contact OUAC by email:

You can also contact OUAC by phone at 519-823-1063.

Check that we have received your information on MyFile. The acceptance of your offer on the OUAC site will take a few days to appear on MyFile. Use MyFile to check the status of your application, apply to residence and more.

    Enrolling + Money Matters

    Enrol in Courses

New students should enrol in their courses and create their own timetables before arrival to York University. Your course enrolment account will open only after completing an Enrolment Appointment (online). Here is how to book your Enrolment Appointment.

    1. After you accept your offer, visit MyFile and go to “Book/Manage My Enrolment Appointment” tab to book your appointment online. Choose the earliest date/time available for your Enrolment Appointment, because you do not need to be physically available for the Appointment date/time. On or after the Enrolment Appointment date, you will receive an email from your faculty’s Academic Advising Office with further instructions on how to enrol in courses.
      • Note: Course enrolment processes are different for each Faculty and will not be available until a few months before the program start date. (Course enrolment for September begins in May.) If you have any issues with your Enrolment Appointment booking, please contact your academic advisors directly.
    2. Check your email on or a few days after the Enrolment Appointment date. You should receive an email from your faculty’s Academic Advisor with further instructions on how to enrol in courses.
      • You may be instructed to review information on YUSTART, depending on your faculty. YUSTART is an award-winning New Student Transition Program that will help you meet new people, introduce you to academic advising, as well as provide campus life and student support services.

How and When to Pay Your Fees

At York University, your tuition fee is determined by the number of courses (credits) you enroll in each semester. For this reason, your tuition amount will not be finalized until you complete your course enrolment. Most students enroll in 5 courses per semester (except for BEng students), and the estimate tuition cost for two semesters (one academic year) is listed here.

    • Deposit Payment is required to reserve your seat in the courses and to confirm your registration at York University. The minimum deposit payment due is $300, and your deposit payment deadline is listed here.
    • Student Account is your online portal where you can review your fee requirements after enrolling in your courses. Your payments to York University will also be recorded in your Student Accounts. You can view your Student Account here.
      • Tuition fees are updated in your Student Account only after you enrol in courses.
      • Your payment will appear as a negative value in your Student Account. For example, if you pay $300, a $-300 value will appear in your Student Account.
    • How to Pay – Are you making a payment from a bank account in Canada?
      • Yes: You can pay by using telephone or online banking. The instructions listed here.
      • No: You need to pay by a wire transfer (bank-to-bank transfer).
        • York University has partnered with two reputable financial service providers who offer secure online portals for international students to make wire payments to York University. Bank account information for making a wire transfer is available only by registering with one of our partner financial service providers. To start off your payment process, please read the complete instructions here.
        • York University does not provide its bank account information directly to the students; please register with one of our partner service providers to obtain the account information you need to make the payment.
        • Please note that wire payments from overseas may take a few weeks before they are received by York University.
        • If you have any issues with your wire transfer process, please contact our partners directly by email listed below:
          • CBIC Student Pay: Studenthelp@cibc.com
